This tour begins in Irkutsk, the nearest city to Baikal lake. Then we’ll visit Listvyanka village, situated 67 km away from Irkutsk. You will also travel on board of the train on the former Trans -Siberian line and finally you will explore the Olkhon island, the largest island of Baikal, land full of legends and holy places.
Tour programme
Day 1 Irkutsk
Arrival in the airport/ railway station of Irkutsk, one of the oldest cities in Siberia. Meeting your English-speaking guide. Transfer to the hotel. Lunch. City tour. Visit to the local market.
Day 2 Irkutsk - Listvyanka
Morning transfer to Listvyanka village on the lake shore. On the way we are going to visit the open air architecture museum Taltsy. Arrival to Listvyanka. Lunch. Visiting the Baikal limnological museum. Walking in the village.
Day 3 Circumbaikal - Irkutsk
Transfer to the railway station where we will board the Circumbaikal train and travel on the old Trans-Siberian line which goes along the lake shore. Spend the day on board of the train enjoying the trip and the view. Return to Irkutsk in the evening.
Day 4 Olkhon island
Early morning departure to Olkhon island, the largest island on the lake. On the way we are going to visit Buryat village Ust -Orda with its ethnographical museum. Ferry trip across the Maloe more strait. Arrival to the main village on the island, called Khuzhir. Accommodation in a hotel. Walking in the village to the famous Shamanka rock.
Day 5 Olkhon island
Excursion around the northern of Olkhon Island with Russian 4 WD jeeps UAZ, driving on the ice of Baikal lake and making stops in the most picturesque places. Open air picnic. Late in the afternoon return to the village.
Day 6 Irkutsk
Departure to Irkutsk. Arrival to the city in the afternoon. Excursion to the Historic Memorial Decembrists’ Museum (optional).
Day 7 Departure
Transfer to the airport/railway station.
